He continuously works with the latest technologies by choosing to only work for information technology companies. He currently works for an internet media company that has pioneered the automation of video creation for the auto industry. He specializes in taking complex subjects and communicating them in a step by step way for anyone to learn.

Step by Step Guide is A Refreshing Book

If you are looking for a single resource to give you all of the steps necessary to actually get a Microsoft Server 2008 Server and SQL Server 2008 High Availability Cluster up and running this is the book for you.
This step by step, screen by screen resource will save you endless, frustrating hours trying to get answers from Microsoft support or the internet forums. This guide is written in the form of a project which takes you through the entire process of building out a highly available enterprise application.
I found the chapters on setting up a SQL reporting services scale-out deployment and on how to cluster generic services especially useful.
The only negative to this book is if you want in-depth details about areas not specifically part of this project (if you want that, dig into Microsoft documentation) .This book gives you precisely what you need to get a real world application up and actually running. I highly recommend this book!

If you're a small to medium size company that wants to start implementing a highly available server environment then this book is a must read! Well written, step by step, full of screenshots, and very useful real world examples. I was able to get my Windows & SQL clusters setup on my Dell MD3000i SAN on the first attempt!

Great Book!

This book does a great job getting systems engineers up speed on what it takes to setup a high performance SQL 2008 R2 cluster. The developers I support were constantly having SQL performance issues until I was able to implement a SQL cluster for them. The book has great tips on how to increase your SQL's performance using additional temp DBs, short stroking disks, larger partition formats & by showing you how to align your partitions.
